The Actual Way of Losing Weight

Weight loss is a procedure in physical fitness to lose weight by reducing body fats and fluid through proper diet and suitable exercises. There are two ways of losing weight;
  1.  One is the losing weight intentionally
  2.  The second one is the losing weight unintentionally

The healthy way of losing weight is the intentional weight loss that occurs by practicing physical activities regularly and through proper and healthy diet. In this way of losing weight, we have to burn more calories than we consume to lose expected weight.

The unintentional weight loss occurs due to diseases like diarrhea, dehydration, food poisoning, some certain types of cancers, malnutrition and excess use of drugs. The unhealthy way of losing weight either intentionally or unintentionally, leads to several health problems such as muscle weakness, hormonal disorder, less immune response, less sexual ability due to less sex hormones in male and female, abnormal menstruation (in females) and sometimes severe and sudden weight loss leads to death. Unhealthy weight loss affects life quality and lifespan. Losing weight through exercise and severe dieting in quicker short time is also considered an unhealthy way of losing weight.

How to lose weight in a healthy way

Our body prepares some certain types of fat tissues called adipose tissues by using extra calories we consume. These tissues are necessary for our body as they provide cushioning to all our body organs and are also a source of energy stored in our body in the form of fat tissues.

Excess storage of these fatty tissues is considered unhealthy or hazardous to our health, because fat tissues have extremely less number of blood vessels that cannot supply sufficient or required amount of blood containing oxygen and digested food to all our muscle cells and thus these fatty tissues provide insufficient energy to our body. Our body needs oxygen, minerals, digested foods, water and vitamins to function properly.
And blood vessels absorb vital food ingredients during digestion of food and oxygen from our lungs and then supply to our body for energy generation and to maintain all body systems. Excess body fat lowers the production of important hormones like testosterone that is needed to develop body muscles and to burn body fats. With the age, muscle tissue production rate lowers that leads to slow metabolic rate.
So, there is something badly need to be done for the reduction of this excessive body fat through proper diet and exercise. Healthy physical activities and healthy eating both are the only way to reduce unnecessary body fat.

Role of diet and exercise in losing weight

Exercise improves life quality, metabolic rate, maintains a healthy body weight, keeps our body flexible that increases the range of motion of our body muscles and also improves blood flow throughout our body. Boosting up metabolism means to boost the fat burning process.
An effective exercise plan incorporated with healthy and natural food plan gives you stronger and leaner muscles and also improves life quality by maintaining healthy body weight.
Exercise also skyrockets physical power and performance even in older age and thus these exercises allow you to perform different power full moves to maintain a strong and lean body.

Exercising according to a schedule is not the only key to live healthy, younger and energetic for life. An effective exercise plan if incorporated with a suitable food/diet plan, then you can achieve your expected goal. Foods give us energy to perform different routine tasks and also supply essential nutrients that are vital for our survival. Mainly, our diet contains macro and micro nutrients that are needed to maintain all life sustaining processes occurring within our body.

Exercise matters, but diet matters a lot

Diet is the selection of healthy foods, eliminating processed and refined foods. This is the only way to live healthy and energetic. It is also true that exercise matters, but we all know that diet matters a lot. Diet affects our body more than exercises and other physical activities.

Foods provide energy to perform exercises and these exercises help our body to digest these foods in a better way. Doing routine tasks like going to the market, doing your households and by walking one mile or more keeps your body active and also maintains a healthy body weight while following a healthy diet plan that contains natural and unprocessed foods.
Gradually increasing your workout routine is the secret to live stronger and healthier.
Similarly, only diet keeps no meaning. If a healthy diet incorporated with a suitable exercise or conditioning program, then you can get your expected results.

Things you need to lose weight

The only thing you need to lose weight is your inner desire to be healthy and smart, but there are still some other factors that also affect our weight such as;
  • An exercising body is an important factor that is too much necessary to have for participating in physical activities. If your body is not capable of doing physical activities, then you cannot lose weight in a healthy way and you have to find some unhealthy ways of losing weight like meditation and severe dieting (skipping foods) that leads to nutritional deficiency. With stronger muscles you can do more powerful activities that can burn extra calories and lead to healthy body weight.
  • Exciting workouts that can be practiced easily and with joy. These exciting and easy to do workouts not only help us in sustaining life quality, but also develop self-confidence and instill spirit of being healthy.
  • Healthy diet with all necessary and essential nutrients.
  • Healthy eating habits which save us from over eating and binge eating.
  • Great interest in maintaining healthy weight and stronger muscles.
  • Always devote your spare time in short time physical activities that can be performed at home or office such as chair sitting, table push-ups, calf raise and some important stretching exercises. These exercises keep you fresh and motivated.
  • Drink an adequate amount of water. If you want to drink plenty of water, then increase your physical activities, because physical activities increase your water need. Drinking water more than your need is not a healthy regime. Drinking too much water or too less water can be hazardous.
  • Add excess healthy protein in your diet.

How Fasting Might Help You Live a Healthy Life

Many people observe fasting as a religious obligation but only few know the health benefits it has. Fasting is a good practice, if properly implemented. It promotes elimination of toxins from the body, reduces blood sugar ans fat stores. It promote healthy eating habits and boost immunity.

Fasting in Islam

Ramadan is the ninth month according to Islamic Lunar calendar. Muslims worldwide observe this as a month of fasting. The month lasts 29–30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon. While fasting from dawn until sunset, Muslims refrain from consuming food, drinking liquids and smoking. Food and drink is served daily, before sunrise and after sunset. It becomes compulsory for Muslims to start fasting when they reach puberty, so long as they are healthy, sane and have no disabilities or illnesses. Many children endeavor to complete as many fasts as possible as practice for later life.

Here are top 10 health benefits you ca derive from fasting.

Religious Purpose of Fasting

The month of Ramadan is not like any other month; its purpose is to rid man of those habits which he has accumulated throughout the rest of the year. It is a month that prepares man for the remaining eleven months by teaching him discipline and self control. Thus, Allah has made some acts which are beloved to man, like eating, drinking and fulfilling one's desires, Haraam. If man can control these desires in this month, which are usually permissible for him, then he can surely control himself from other desires which are not permissible throughout the remaining months.

Health Benefits of Fasting

1- Fasting Promotes Weight loss

Fasting promotes rapid weight loss. It reduces the store of fats in the body. However fasting is not a good weight loss strategy. Reducing fat and sugar intake, and increasing fruits and rest are better measures to achieve weight reduction.

2- Fasting Increases Fat breakdown
Fasting is one of the non-drug methods of reducing blood pressure. It helps to reduce the risk of atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is clogging of arteries by fat particles. During fasting glucose and later, fat stores are used to produce energy. Metabolic rate is reduced during fasting. The fear-flight hormones such as adrenaline and noradrenaline are also reduced. This keeps the metabolic steady and within limits. The benefit is a reduction in blood pressure.

3- Fasting Promotes detoxification
Processed foods contain lots of additives. These additives may become toxins in the body. Some of them promote production of advanced glycation end products (AGEs). Most of these toxins are stored in fats. Fat is burnt during fasting, especially when it is prolonged. And the toxins are released. The liver, kidneys and other organs in the body are involved in detoxification.

4- Fasting Rests Digestive System
During fasting, the digestive organs rest. The normal physiologic functions continue especially production of digestive secretions, but at reduced rates. This exercise helps to maintain balance of fluids in the body. Breakdown of food takes place at steady rates. Release of energy also follows a gradual pattern. Fasting however does not stop production of acids in the stomach. This is reason patients with peptic ulcer are advised to approach fasting with caution. Some experts believe they should not fast.

5- Fasting Boosts Immunity
When an individual is on balanced diet in between fasts, this can boost immunity. Elimination of toxins and reduction in fat store also helps the body. When individuals take fruits to break a fast, they increase the body's store of essential vitamins and minerals. Vitamins A and E are good antioxidants readily available in fruits. They help to boost immunity.

6- Fasting Resolves Inflammatory Response
Some studies show that fasting promotes resolution of inflammatory diseases and allergies. Examples of such inflammatory diseases are rheumatoid arthritis, arthritis and skin diseases such as psoriasis. Some experts assert that fasting may promote healing of inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis.

7- Fasting Corrects high blood Pressure
Fasting is one of the non-drug methods of reducing blood pressure. It helps to reduce the risk of atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is clogging of arteries by fat particles. During fasting glucose and later, fat stores are used to produce energy. Metabolic rate is reduced during fasting. The fear-flight hormones such as adrenaline and noradrenaline are also reduced. This keeps the metabolic steady and within limits. The benefit is a reduction in blood pressure.

8- Fasting Reduces Blood Sugar
Fasting increases breakdown of glucose so that the body can get energy. It reduces production of insulin. This rests the pancreas. Glucagon is produced to facilitate the breakdown of glucose. The outcome of fasting is a reduction in blood sugar.

9- Fasting Promotes Healthy diet
It has been observed that fasting reduces craving for processed foods. It promotes desire for natural foods, especially water and fruits. This is one way fasting promote healthy lifestyle.

10- Fasting May Help to Overcome Addictions
Some authors show that fasting can help addicts reduce their cravings, for nicotine, alcohol, caffeine and other substance abuse. Although there are other regimens required to resolve addictions, fasting can play a role.

Fasting periodically can help your body relieve stress, reduce interstitial bloating, and clear your mind.

Happy Ramadan to All the Muslims!

Guest Post: Is It Possible To Gain Muscle On A Low Carb Diet

Many bodybuilders are always wondering rather or not it's possible to gain muscle on a carbohydrate restrictive diet.

Low carbohydrate diets are great for anybody who's trying to
lose fat, since it helps to control hunger levels and many people report overall better fat loss results with the diet.

But what about when it comes to building lean mass? Is a low carbohydrate diet the best approach at doing so? Let's go ahead and take a closer look.

Ketosis

An important thing to keep in mind is that when you reduce your carbohydrate consumption low enough, your body will enter a state of ketosis, in which it burns fat for energy instead of carbohydrates.

Several studies indicate that being in ketosis for long periods of time has been associated with an increase in catabolism (muscle breakdown), which is detrimental if your goal is to gain muscle.

If you're consuming an adequate amount of carbohydrates, however, and are not in ketosis, your body is able to stay in an anabolic state, assuming you are consuming a calorie surplus each day.

So if your goal is to stay out of ketosis, you need to make sure you're consuming more than 100 grams of carbohydrates per day (this is the minimum amount needed to fuel your body and stay out of ketosis). This will ensure that your body burns carbohydrates for energy instead of fat and will help keep you in an anabolic state.

Energy and Intense Exercise

Another thing to keep in mind with the low carbohydrate diet is how it will affect your energy levels. Many individuals report that they feel fine on a carbohydrate restrictive diet, but many others do not. So if you're the latter and not the former, a low carbohydrate diet would not be recommended for you, since your energy levels will be lacking in the gym. And if you don't even have enough energy to pick up a barbell and dead lift, how can you expect to build any additional muscle mass? You can't.

The body also requires carbohydrates to function properly, since fat is not meant to be used for weightlifting movements. So if you choose to go the low carbohydrate route, you'll either need to consume carbs during the pre or post workout window of opportunity or on the weekends during your weekly carb ups.

Decreased Rate Of Fat Gain

A huge plus to the low carbohydrate diet is the ability to maintain body fat levels to a reasonable level, even when bulking up.

Since carbohydrates spike insulin levels and insulin is a fat storing hormone, you'll probably find that your body is much more effective at burning fat.

Also keep in mind that rather or not you gain muscle or lose fat all boils down to this concept of calories. You simply can't consume thousands upon thousands of additional calories and expect to gain additional muscle – they will simply get stored as fat. In addition, you can't expect to eat like a girl, or your body won't have the calories it needs to grow each day and you will start to lose weight. We need to take a realistic approach to this.

So to sum up, there is a place in the bodybuilding world for a “low carb” approach, so-to speak, as long as we follow a few basic guidelines:

1. You are consuming at least 100 grams of carbohydrates each day.

2. You consume carbs during the pre or post workout period of opportunity – or on the weekends during your carb up.

3. You react well to the low carb diet and you don't feel completely drained while on it – you still have the energy to hit the gym.

As long as you're keeping these factors in mind, it is possible to gain muscle on a carbohydrate restrictive diet.

Review: Skinny Sprinkles (weight loss food supplement)

Whenever I'm asked if I'd like to try out a new product designed to help you lose weight, the first thing I do is check the label to see what it contains. I always come to these things as an open-minded skeptic  I don't expect any of them to work, but if they do, I'll be extremely happy (and I won't be the only one !).

About Skinny Sprinkles

Skinny Sprinkles is a new UK-manufactured appetite suppressant and alertness drink that helps you lose weight. Its main appetite suppressing ingredient glucomannan, is an EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) approved nutrient for its weight loss promoting capacities.

Company Says

Skinny Sprinkles® is scientifically proven to aid weight reduction by curbing your appetite and reducing hunger. Quite simply Skinny Sprinkles® makes you feel full! Take 30 minutes before a meal or as a snack replacement to suppress the appetite. *Studies show weight loss of up to 2lbs/0.91kg a week in overweight adults.

My Verdict

When they arrived, I got rather excited by the idea of having three ‘smoothies’ a day as a treat, and after I’d made up the first one, (paying careful attention to the instructions, and not simply opening the sachet and sprinkling the powder into my mouth*), I began sipping my tasty snack. This was a big mistake. These ‘smoothies’ are not delicious. They taste a bit like soluble paracetamol with strawberry pips in. I would recommend stirring them really fast until everything is floating nicely, and then gulping it down in one.

I would definitely recommend Skinny Sprinkles if your main problem is hunger and how much you eat rather than eating the wrong foods. I do feel like it has helped me jump start my weight loss, however if I hadn't been offered a trial of SS I wouldn't have been able to afford them.

I wouldn't however recommend skinny sprinkles as an overall quick fix, I think it's so important to eat healthily on the whole and get into good eating habits and making smart choices. It's key to be able to keep up a healthy eating regime after achieving your goal weight or you just can't keep it off, as I know only too well. Saying that, I think SS works perfectly alongside a healthy regime as they're not a meal replacement, they're a snack replacement.

I'm so grateful to Skinny Sprinkles for sending me their product to trial and I have enough left for another week or so I reckon. I'm going to keep using these until I run out and hope that when I'm finished I can substitute these for healthy snacks.

You can buy this from their website here.

Guest Post: Easy Home Exercises to Slim Down Your Waist

There will always be those who wait for the most elite personal trainer Birmingham has to offer to come along and sort their love-handles out for them, but slimming down a waist is something that really anyone has the power to take control of themselves. Of course, it is a case of balancing the right lifestyle with the right diet and the right exercises, as without any of these three components the other two are largely redundant.

The technical term for targeting weight loss in one part of the body is Spot Reduction and here’s the bad news – it’s actually impossible to pick a part of the body and lose weight from it. Instead, the body itself chooses where and when to shed the pounds, but this doesn't mean you can’t carry out plenty of exercises at home to build a slimmer, firmer waist.
The key is to go for exercises that not only promote weight loss, but also serve to tone and shape your waist at the same time – the following being some of the most effective and simple ones:

Cardio

Quite simply any cardio exercise you undertake at home will have an excellent effect on your waist, helping you to shed the pounds and also train your stomach muscles at the same time. You should be looking at sessions of about 45 minutes or so to be practiced three to five times per week for a noticeable difference within the first month. A basic exercise bike or treadmill is absolutely perfect for the job.

Knee Raise

This is a safe and simple exercise that requires a pull-up bar be installed in doorway. In the simplest possible terms, it is a case of hanging from the bar with hands at shoulder-width apart and then slowly bringing your knees up to your chest and then lowering them again. This can be done in any number of reps and for any duration in accordance with personal fitness – excellent for toning and weight loss.

Simple Crunches

Crunches are some of the most effective waist-toning exercises on the face of the Earth and can be made about a thousand times easier by investing in a sit-up bar to be fitted under a door of the home. However, it must be remembered that crunches are lot higher-impact than they can appear to be at the time of carrying them out so anyone new to the activity must start slowly and gently to prevent injury.

Rotations

Another excellent home exercise is a form of rotation that demands a medicine ball and an inflatable balance ball. The exercise involves sitting up straight on the balance ball and holding the medicine ball out in front at arm’s length, slowly rotating the arms in a circular motion to really get those stomach muscles working.

Reverse Crunches

Last but not least, one of the simplest approaches of all is that of the reverse crunch – basically where you lay flat on your back on a suitable safe surface and summarily raise your legs off the ground either straight or bend the knee, slowly lowering them without making contact with the ground and then repeating the raise.
And of course, the best approach of all is a carefully balanced mixture of all of the above!

Review: Nuvia Trim Weight Loss Coffee

Back about a month ago, I was contacted to see if I wouldn't mind reviewing a coffee product that was designed to help you loose weight. At first I was thinking, impossible. I know that part of the reason why I still have some flubber around my tummy is due to my coffee addiction. I was intrigued and jumped at the chance to even loose a few pounds while drinking what I consider my liquid life support. I received the package, but was a bit skeptical if I should be the one reviewing this product as I realized it was "instant coffee". I don't like instant coffee, or actually I should say instant coffee tends to not like me, or my gut. About 30 minutes after I drink it, I end up in the bathroom because it doesn't agree with me. So I was a bit skeptical, but told myself I would at least try a cup and I'd wait to incorporate it in my weight loss efforts after the holidays.

Company Says

SUPPORTS APPETITE CONTROL
SUPPORTS THERMOGENIC FAT LOSS
INCREASES LIPOLYSIS
HEALTHY ANTIOXIDANT
SUPPORTS HEALTHY AFTER-MEAL SUGAR LEVELS

How to Use

I usually have to sweeten up my coffee in order for me to drink it. This coffee has a slight raspberry taste to it that makes the flavor of the coffee bold enough that it can be drank alone. No need for sweetener at all but I have to admit that I do prefer it with a little sweetener. It's really good either way though! I have found that it suppresses my appetite & it doesn't make me jittery. I'm going to continue to drink it. It definitely keeps me full enough to not grab my usual snack – same as the Nuvia Cafe. I love it & highly recommend it! Nuvia Cafe products are delicious & worth trying out..

Key Ingredients

Green Coffee Bean

Raspberry Ketone
African Mango
Green Tea Extract

Ganoderma

My Rating

9/10 for this coffee.
